How many apples are on the ground?

An apple tree has apples on it. A storm comes through and there is no longer apples on the tree. But there isn’t apples on the ground either.

How can this be so?

    The tree had two apples so when one fell in the storm the tree and ground both had just one apple. So neither had apples just an apple.
