How much of a loss did the shopkeeper take?
A lady buys goods worth Rs 200 from a shop, whose shopkeeper is selling the goods with zero profit.
-
The lady gives him a Rs 1000 note.
-
The shopkeeper gets the change from the next shop, keeps Rs 200 for himself, and returns Rs 800 to the lady.
-
Later the shopkeeper of the next shop comes with the Rs 1000 note saying “fake note” and takes his money back.
How much of a loss did the shopkeeper take?
Answer – Rs.1000 LOSS
EXPLAINATION-
Transaction 1 (Lady and Shopkeeper 1)
Lady to shopkeeper = Rs. 1000(FAKE) = Rs 0 (EARN Rs.0)
Shopkeeper to Lady = Rs. 200 goods + Rs. 800 change = Rs.1000 (EARN –Rs.1000 ) – LOSS
Shopkeeper 2 given and took back Rs1000 – NO NEED TO CONSIDER
FINALLY-
Shopkeeper 1 loss: Rs.200 goods+ Rs.800 change – Rs. 1000 fake= Rs.1000
200 Rs product+ 800 change given to lady+ 1000 to the neighbor shopkeeper= Rs. 2000 total loss.
assume the both shopkeepers as a system ,
now the money came in the system=1000(fake)=0
the money went from the system=200+800
so loss =200 +800
=1000
this is definitely the loss of first shopkeeper.
1800
200 worth goods + 800 real money that the lady takes home.
200 real money + 800 his own money that he pays back to next shopkeeper.
All he is left with is a 1000 fake note, which is 0.
ANSWER = 1800
1) SHOPKEEPER-1 TO LADY = 200 (GOODS) + 800 (CHANGE) = 1000 LOSS.
2) SHOPKEEPR-1 TO SHOPKEEPER-2 = 1000 (200 LEFT FROM PURCHASE AND 800 FROM HIS ACCOUNT) = 800 LOSS.
TOTAL = 1800!
Simple! 🙂
