A really nice riddle.
We can write it also as AB * C * I = GH = DE-F .
Since multiples of 5 result with 5 or 0 as last digit, and 0 is not allowed then we know that B,C,I,H can not be 5. Also AB when multiplied by C*I still remains a 2 digit number means that C*I < 10. AB must be less than 50. H,G must be different from A,B,C,I so after all those conditions we are left with 6 possible numbers and the solution is:39 *1 = 45-6 = 78/2

There are a lot of solutions! for eample :
471392586 >> 471392590 > 471392600 > 471393000 > 471390000 > 471400000 > 471000000 > 470000000 > 500000000
after 4 steps the sum of digits of 47139 is 24493712856…
517294386 > 517294390 > 517294400 > 517294000 > 517290000 > 517300000 > 517000000 > 520000000 > 500000000
after 4 steps the sum of digits of 51729 is 24- 1665 views

Saying that “Each lord paid 9 pounds (10 originally and got one back)” is wrong!! They paid 25 pounds and each of them got 1 pound so 25+3 =28 pounds + 2 pounds to the porter is 30.
(Or if you go backwards they paid 30 pound and 2 pounds took the porter and each of the one pound so they paid 25 in total). You can also look at this riddle as if the paid 25 pounds and gave 2 pounds as a tip to the porter and got 3 pound back.

Taking out 2 socks out of 4 where we have 2 white socks and 2 black socks gives us the following options: w-w, w-b, b-w, b-b.
So the probability of taking out a pair with the same color is 2/4=1/2
So its the same probability that is was a black pair- 1032 views

With 2 standard dices we have 6*6 results.
12 can be achieved only by 6 & 6, so the probability is 1/36
7 can be achieved by 1 & 6, 2 & 5 , 3 & 4 , 4 & 3, 5 & 2, 6 & 1 >>> 6/36 >> 1/6
but 2 consecutive 7s is 1/6 * 1/6 = 1/36
So the probability is the same!!- 1415 views
