    EXPLANATION-
    Consider the numbers between 1-10:     1, 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9, 10

    The fact that neither of them knows the other person’s number so they cannot have the extreme values, that are, 1 & 10.
    So we are left with 2-9.

    If the numbers known to B were 2(or 9), he could have immediately deduced the fact that the number known to A is 3(or 8). But since, he says “Nor do I know your number”, it means that number known to B is not 2, 9.  HOWEVER, this does not mean that the number known to A can’t be 2 or 3.

    So, A’s number can be one of : 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9
    And, B’s number can be one of : 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8

    Now, if A’s number is 2, then he can be sure that B’s number is 3,
    if A’s number is 3, then he can be sure that B’s number is 4,
    if A’s number is 9, then he can be sure that B’s number is 8,
    if A’s number is 8, then he can be sure that B’s number is 7.

    XXXXX3 is always divisible by 3 (sum of digits is always 21), so we have 5! numbers.
    XXXXY4 is divisible by 4 only if Y is 2 or 6, so we have 2 * 4! numbers.
    XXXXX5 is always divisible by 5, so we have 5! numbers.
    XXXXX6 is always divisible by 6 (even number divisible by 3), so we have 5! numbers.

    So total number of numbers with required property = 5 * 5! + 2* 4! = 600 + 48 = 648 numbers.

    Explanation-
    As Sam knows the sum of the numbers (x + y) he would only know the answer immediately.
    If the sum was 4 (2 + 2) or 5 (3 + 2),then when Pete (who knows x*y) knew that Sam didn’t know the answer the product must have several numbers that add up to the sum (7 = 3 + 4, 7 = 5 + 2)
    When Pete doesn’t know the answer at this point we know the product must have more than one pair of viable factors (12 = 3 * 4, 12 = 6 * 2).

    At this point Sam knows the numbers are 3 and 4 because they are the only numbers that meet these criteria.

  • Everyone will Thinks of a random digit and adds in their salary, and after addition subtract those random numbers and calculate the average –

    Explanation with Example
    Salary of A (3000) + he adds 5000 = 8000
    Salary of B (0) + he adds 5000 = 5000
    Salary of C (8000) + he adds 1000 = 9000
    Salary of D (1000) + he adds 8000 = 9000

    They will write Final Numbers on chit of paper and then add them all.
    = 8000+9000+9000+5000 = 31000 (No one will come to know, there is someone Who don’t earn )

    After that, everyone will write the random number they added on paper and then add them up.
    = 5000+5000 +1000 +8000 = 19000

    Subtract Random addition from Total i.e. 31000-19000 = 12000
    and find the average, 12000/4=3000 🙂

    EXPLANATION-

    There are 70 characters in the given code it can be divided equally into groups of factors of 70 characters.
    Example- Group of 2 characters, 5 characters, 7 characters, 14 or 35 or 70.

    Now as it is mentioned in the question that the decoded sentence will be in English language the number of characters per group can be 5 (as the binary value of 26, the number of letters in English Alphabet, is 11010 containing 5 characters) Or it can be seven if the code is given in ASCII.

    But logically grouping the characters into 7 characters per group will give you the second group as 0000100 which is 8 not an ASCII value for the English alphabet.
    So we can form groups of 5 characters each

    10011 – 19 – S
    10000 – 16 – P
    01000 – 8 – H
    01001 – 9 – I
    01110 – 14 – N
    11000 – 24 – X

    00110 – 6 – F
    01001 – 9 – I
