    $56.25

    1/5 of $56.25 is $11.25, leaving him with $45.
    1/5 of $45 is $9, leaving him with $36.

    The amount left after spending 1/5 is 4/5. Doing this twice would equal 16/25. Divide 36 by (16/25) to get the answer.

    Let initial amount he has is $ x.
    Then after 1st transaction, amount spent: x/5.
    So, left amount: 4*x/5.
    Now, spend amount: 4*x/25.
    According to question: x/5+4*x/25=36.
    So, x=$100.

    x = wallet

    1st spend:
    (1/5)x

    Balance after 1st spend:
    x – (1/5)x = (4/5)x

    2nd spend:
    (1/5)x * (4/5)x = (4/25)x

    Total spend:
    (1/5)x + (4/25)x = (5/25)x + (4/25)x = (9/25)x = $36

    Solve for x (wallet):
    (9/25)x = $36
    x = ($36) * (25/9)
    x = $900 / 9
    x = $100
