The hour hand moves 90 degrees to reach 3:00. The minute hand is moving at 5.5 degrees per minute relatively to the hour hand. In 15 minutes, the minute hand will cover 5.5*15 degrees = 82.5 degrees. Difference between the hour hand and the minute hand: 90 – 82.5 = 7.5 degrees.
