    Assumptions:

    1. None of the parrots and rabbits are ‘handicapped’
    2. No parrots / rabbits have any anomalies such as more number of heads / feet than normal
    3. The ‘number of heads’ and ‘number of feet’ in the cage are of the aforesaid parrots and rabbits only.

Let the number of parrots be ‘x’ and number of rabbits, ‘y’.

    We have:

    x + y = 72  (1)
    2x + 4y = 200  (2)

    Solving (1) and (2), we get x = 44 and y = 28. i.e., there are 44 parrots and 28 rabbits.
