Secretly calculating average salary puzzle
4 Friends A, B, C, D are sipping coffee at Starbucks Coffee House. They wish to compute their average salary. However, nobody is willing to reveal information about his/her own salary to anybody else.
How do they do it?
Everyone will Thinks of a random digit and adds in their salary, and after addition subtract those random numbers and calculate the average –
Explanation with Example–
Salary of A (3000) + he adds 5000 = 8000
Salary of B (0) + he adds 5000 = 5000
Salary of C (8000) + he adds 1000 = 9000
Salary of D (1000) + he adds 8000 = 9000
They will write Final Numbers on chit of paper and then add them all.
= 8000+9000+9000+5000 = 31000 (No one will come to know, there is someone Who don’t earn )
After that, everyone will write the random number they added on paper and then add them up.
= 5000+5000 +1000 +8000 = 19000
Subtract Random addition from Total i.e. 31000-19000 = 12000
and find the average, 12000/4=3000 🙂
1st person add a random digit, say X to his salary , write it on a chit and pass it to others , others add their salary to it, when the chit returns to 1st person he subtracts the digit X . Done
They wrote their salary on piece of paper and put in a coffee mug.then one of them total it and divide by four
But that one guy will come to know exact salary figures.
Example –
Salary of A 12987
Salary of B 1549
Salary of C 33671
Salary of D 56782
As per puzzle, no one should come to know about exact salary figure of anyone.
He will not know whom salary is what so he will know nobody ‘s salary .They could also ask waiter to do  the calculation..I think u did not get that all will write on different price of paper
