Animals in a Zoo

If a zookeeper had 100 pairs of animals in her zoo, and two pairs of babies are born for each one of the original animals, then (sadly) 23 animals don’t survive, how many animals do you have left in total?

None. The animals, irrespective of the count, are with the zookeeper (.. . a zookeeper had 100 pairs of animals,,,) whereas the question asked “how many animals do you have left…” I’m not the zookeeper, hence I have none of the animals. 🙂

If the question is about the animals left with the zookeeper, then the answer would be 577.

Initial Stage: 100 pairs of animals = 200 Nos. of animals.
Stage 2: Two pairs of babies (i.e., 4 babies) are born to each of them. That would be 400 baby animals. (When a pair of animals get one baby, each of the pair has a baby.)
Stage 3: Out of the total 600 animals (original 200 plus 400 babies), 23 animals (not pairs) don’t survive,. Hence, we are left with 600 – 23 = 577 animals.
