Suppose you drive to a picnic spot at 20 mph, then how fast you must go while returning home on the same route such that your average speed becomes 40 mph?

    As the title of the puzzle indicates, it is impossible. Since the distance to be covered in the second part of the journey is the same as that of the first part, you will have to cover that distance in zero time (which is impossible) to get the average speed doubled.
