On a bright sunny day, two fathers took their son fishing in the lake. Each man and son were able to catch one fish. When they returned to their camp, there were only three fishes in the basket. What happened?

PS: None of the fish were eaten, lost, or thrown back.

“two fathers took their son” seems an anomaly…!

Yet, the question it doesn’t rule out the (only) possibility that the two fathers themselves form a father – son duo, and the ‘son’ among the two was the father of the other ‘son’ in the group, thus completing the ‘grand fathersongrand son‘ combo – a total of THREE persons, each having caught ONE fish each.
