There are digits from 1 to 9. The catch is that each one of them has to cut one digit and add it to his respective sum. The one who is able to obtain a sum of exact 15 will win the game?

Answer- I suggest Jacob to play second

    Explanation-
Let’s suppose that jacob plays first and he picks 9. This means Jack will surely pick 8.
Now, Jacob will have to pick 7 or Karan will pick 7 in his turn. But if Jacob picks up 7, then he will score 16 that is beyond 15 and will lose.
So, It is for sure, NO one will be willing to start with the highest digits.

Suppose, Jacob plays first and picks up 1, John will pick 2. Then Jacob will pick 3 and John will pick 4. Now Jacob will be forced to pick 9. The score is 6 to 13 and thus Jacob will have no chance of winning.

If Jacob Picks 9 after John has picked up 2, then John will pick 8 and the score will become 10 to 10. Thus Jacob will pick 3 as picking 7 will send him past 15. Now John will pick 4 and Jacob has nothing to pick for winning. Thus John wins.

Therefore, I suggest Jacob to play second.

Why are you picking numbers in an order. What if someone wants to pick any number?

Answer- I suggest Jacob to play second

Explanation: The options to get 15 are at most 5 digits long (1+2+3+4+5). So for ever number John starts Jacob will be able to block him from getting to 15 (on the 4th digit pickup or the 6th digit pickup)

For example: 9 for John 6 to Jacob if 5 to John than 1 (4th dight chosen) to Jacob or (4 and 2) or (3 and 2) and if John starts with a small number then Jacob can choose a big number which will force John to block him so the real control on the game flow is Jacob
