  • After his13m there is a big hole in the road.
There is a hole after 13 m….but exactly we don’t know how far the hole is  from the man. So we can’t say exactly where the man is going to feel the gravity!!!
    BUT!!!!!!
If this means the hole is 13 m away from the hole answer is 5..
    BUT!!!!!
If it means the hole is just after 13 m then another extra move will be needed! So the answer will be 6…

    For….5 move strategy….

    Explanation:
1st step: He goes 5 ft and return 3 ft. So he visited all distance between 1 and 5 ft.His current position is 5-3=2 ft from initial!
2nd step: He goes 5 ft and return 3 ft. So he visited all distance between 2 and 7 ft.His current position is 7-3=4 ft from initial!
3rd step: He goes 5 ft and return 3 ft. So he visited all distance between 4 and 9 ft.His current position is 9-3=6 ft from initial!
4th step: He goes 5 ft and return 3 ft. So he visited all distance between 6 and 11 ft.His current position is 11-3=8 ft from initial!
5th step: He goes 5 ft and return 3 ft. So he visited all distance between 8 and 13 ft.
And in this step he’ll feel gravity!!!

    For six move strategy:
    Explanation:

First five moves will be same as before!

6th step:His current position is (13-2)=11 He tries to go 5 ft again. But in the mean time he will fall into the hole…if the hole is situated just after the 13 m….exactly on 14 m distance

Why the author said “same as above”?
    Because: The steps were:
1.thief stole half of diamonds and 2 more.
2.thief stole half of diamonds and 2 more.
3.Same as above(It means here 1,2 steps repeated again. So the thief stole twice more)!
4.Same as above(It means now more four steps repeated)

As a result the thief actually stole 8 times.

At last there was no diamond left.
So 8th time when the thief stole 2 diamonds there were only two diamonds left!
Now we can guess there were 1,2,3,4,5,6,…….diamonds when the thief stole for the second time!!
But actually there were only 4.
Because the thief stole half of the 4 diamonds=2 and remaining two. And this way he stole 4 diamonds!!
As a result for the nineth time he got nothing.
No other number will satisfy this clue!!
So when the thief stole for the 8th time there were 4 diamonds!!

For 7th time he stole half of the remaining and 2 more.
    So there were (4+2)*2=12 diamonds!!

For 6th time he stole half of the remaining and 2 more.
    So there were (12+2)*2=28 diamonds!!

For 5th time he stole half of the remaining and 2 more.
    So there were (28+2)*2=60 diamonds!!

For 4th time he stole half of the remaining and 2 more.
    So there were (60+2)*2=124 diamonds!!

For 3rd time he stole half of the remaining and 2 more.
    So there were (124+2)*2=252 diamonds!!

For 2nd time he stole half of the remaining and 2 more.
    So there were (252+2)*2=508 diamonds!!

For 1st time he stole half of the remaining and 2 more.
    So there were (508+2)*2=1020 diamonds!!

If my initial logic was wrong there were only 4 steps!!
    And the answer became 60.

  • 99 is the answer!!
    Explanation:
First we will fix 2 components together = 1 move(This is our first fixed piece!!)
    98 components are left .
Now we will fix like this way: Our first fixed piece, and one from remaining 98 pieces.
    97 components left.
Now we will fix like this way: Our second fixed piece, and one from remaining 97 pieces.
    96 comp left.
So we will need 96 more step.
Each time one component will decrease!!
    Total = 1(Our first move) + (1 + 1+……total number of 1 is 98) = 99.

  • Answer – 04 : 21 : 48.9942

    Let’s start with 12.00 o  clock… Both hands overlap…

Let an hour pass…..  Min hand will point to 12 again…. But in the mean time,  hours hand would move to 1 (from 12 to 1)….

So min hand must move from 12 to 1 ( it takes 5 min or 300 seconds)

But hours hand also over in that time.  It moves by

    300 * 0.0083 = 2.5 degrees

To cover up that 2.5 degrees,  min Hand takes 2.5/0.1 = 25 seconds…

    But in that 25 seconds,  hour hands move by 25 * 0.0083 = 0.2075 degrees…

To cover up that 0.2 degrees it takes 2.075 degrees…..

    And keep continuing thus was….

    Total approx time is 25 +2.075. ,0.17+0.00141+0.00117+0.00097 = 27.24855 seconds

Every 65 min 27.24855 seconds once they overlap…..

Let’s continue… After an hour(60 min) ,  min hand would be at 1 and hour hand would have moved to 2    …  So five more min to compensate it…

At 2.10 they over lap again….

So every 65 min  27.24855 seconds once they over lap….

    So let’s calculate…

    12 : 00 : 00
    01 : 05 : 27.24855
    02 : 10 : 54.7971
    03 : 16 : 21.74565
    04 : 21 : 48.9942
    05 : 27 : 16.24275

    So the answer is 04 : 21 : 48.9942

  • The criminal can’t kill anybody if the police man is present.
    Why?
He can kill the policeman and then every others.
But that’s not possible only because he can’t kill the policeman.
Moreover, the policeman is always present with himself.
So it’s clear the criminal won’t kill the policeman!!!

    1st trip: Police,Criminal will cross……………..Police will return
2st trip: Police,1st Son will cross……………..Police and Criminal will return
3st trip: Father,2nd Son will cross……………..Father will return
    4st trip: Father,Mother will cross……………..Mother will return
    5st trip: Police,Criminal will cross……………..Father will return
    6st trip: Father,Mother will cross……………..Mother will return
7st trip: Mother,1st Daughter will cross…………….Police and Criminal will return
8st trip: Police,2nd Daughter will cross……………..Police will return
    9st trip: Police,Criminal will cross……………..Nobody will return

So, by this way everybody will cross the river!!!

“How can you get all eight people across the river, without anybody getting killed?”
So only we need to ensure that they will cross the river. Its not necessary that the process must be optimal though it’s already optimal,I guess .:)

  • Anna, orange, by the stream

    Harriet, apple, on a rock

Mike, banana, on a tree branch

    Sam, pear, on the grass

Sam sits on the grass. Anna sits by the stream. Harriet doesn’t sit on the tree branch. So by elimination, Mike sits on the tree branch and Harriet sits on the rock. Since Harriet sits on the rock, she eats the apple. Neither Anna nor Mike ate the pear, so Sam did. Mike doesn’t like oranges, so Anna ate the orange and by elimination Mike ate the banana.

    • Bob and Judy Gallop, sight seeing, carved wood dolphin
    • Ed and Sarah Peel, scuba diving, model ship
    • Jake and Tracy Bremmer, golfing, shirts
    • Mike and Cindy Horner, hiking, postcards
    • Peter and Jane Elmwood, surfing, homemade candies

Explanation: Bob and Judy (1) Gallop (2) went sight seeing (2) and bought the carved wooden dolphin (5). Jake Bremmer (6) went golfing (2) and bought shirts (6). Peter went surfing (2). Ed didn’t go hiking (4) so by elimination Ed went scuba diving and Mike went hiking. Mike bought postcards (6). Ed didn’t buy the homemade candies (1) so by elimination Peter bought the homemade candies and Ed bought the model ship. Therefore, Ed is married to Sarah (5). From clue 3 and elimination, Cindy is married to Mike and Peel is the last name of Ed and Sarah. Mike’s last name is not Elmwood (6) so by elimination Mike’s last name is Horner and Peter’s is Elmwood. Peter isn’t married to Tracy (2) so by elimination Peter is married to Jane and Jake is married to Tracy.
