Swimming Pool Water Filling

8.3K Views

A swimming pool has four faucets. The first can fill the entire pool with water in two days, the second in three days, the third in four days, and the last one can fill the pool in 6 hours.
How long will it take to fill the pool using all 4 faucets together?

Approx. 4 hrs 43 min and 17 Sec.

In one hour, faucet 1 can fill 0.0208 part of the pool, while the second one can fill 0.0139, the third one can fill 0.0104 and the fourth one can fill 0.1667.  Thus, if all four faucets are opened together, 0.2118 part of the pool will be filled in 1 hr. Accordingly, it will take approx. 4.721 hrs or 4 hrs 43 min and 17 Sec. to fill the entire pool.
